Families & Youth Innovations Plus (FYI+ ), New Mexico Children,
Youth, and Families Department (NMCYFD) and City of Las Cruces, are coming together to
recognize Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. This month serves as an important time to
highlight the importance of child safety, to raise awareness about preventing abuse, and to
provide resources to families in Doña Ana County.
Organizations like FYI+ and CYFD, work tirelessly to prevent child abuse and neglect by
supporting families through essential resources, supports, and services. Together with partners
like the City of Las Cruces, we are celebrating these efforts with two special events:

  • Every Child Matters Fiesta – April 12, 11AM – 1PM, Anthony, NM at the Gadsden DACC
    Campus

    • Proclamation presented by Mayor Diana Murillo
    • Community event with resources and family activities.
  • Every Child Matters Fiesta – April 17, 4 – 7 PM, Plaza de Las Cruces
    • The Mayor of Las Cruces, Eric Enriquez, will present an official proclamation.
    • Family-friendly activities, live music, food trucks, and entertainment.
  • Make Cruces Royal Campaign: Show Your Support – Throughout April, local businesses are
encouraged to participate in the Make Cruces Royal campaign to show their commitment to
    child abuse prevention by:

    • Displaying a Royal Blue Ribbon in their storefront.
    • Creating a Royal Blue-themed product or service.
    • Sharing our “Make Cruces Royal” post on Instagram to spread awareness.

Child abuse prevention is a collective effort, and the community is invited to stand together in
support of the children in Dona Ana County. By participating in these events and campaigns, we
can help ensure that every child in our community is safe, supported, and valued.
