The public and community are invited to attend a free recital at Doña Ana Community College (DACC) featuring an internationally known and renowned pianist.
This free concert will feature eight pieces with musical guest Dr. Benjamin Loeb on piano and DACC Assistant Professor of Music John De La Paz on clarinet. The concert will be held on Wednesday, March 5th at 6 p.m. at the DACC East Mesa campus auditorium, 2800 Sonoma Ranch Blvd. It will also feature a pre-concert talk at 5:30 p.m.
Dr. Loeb is an accomplished soloist, accompanist, conductor, arranger, educator, arts administrator and entrepreneur. He has soloed with the Boston Pops Orchestra, will conduct with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra (Ukraine), the North Bohemian Opera Ballet Orchestra (Czech) and the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic (Czech). Dr. Loeb holds degrees from Harvard University, the Curtis Institute, The Julliard School and the Peabody. He is the brother of musician Lisa Loeb.
De La Paz teaches classical and jazz appreciation courses at DACC and is a co-founder of Duo Artesanal. De La Paz has performed and offered workshops & masterclasses throughout the United States, Europe, Latin America and Japan. He has performed as a soloist and ensemble member at various festivals, conferences and symposiums as well as working with and performing with several internationally recognized composers.
This is DACC’s inaugural piano concert since the college was donated the instrument from piano luthier and technician Tom Lepinski in September.
