LAS CRUCES – Students and teachers in the Las Cruces Public Schools district will soon benefit from a community-wide effort to collect much-needed school supplies before the start of the new academic year.

Doña Ana Community College, in partnership with Bravo Mic Communications and Nusenda Credit Union, will host its annual Stuff the Bus school supplies drive on Saturday, July 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the college’s East Mesa Campus, located at 2800 Sonoma Ranch Boulevard inside the Student Resources Building.

The event is designed to help ensure students begin the 2026-2027 school year with the classroom supplies they need while also providing teachers with additional resources for their classrooms. Organizers say community members are encouraged to donate new school supplies or personal care items to support local families.

Suggested donations include backpacks, spiral notebooks, folders, notebook paper, #2 pencils, mechanical pencils, pens, crayons, colored pencils, markers, glue, scissors, rulers, protractors, binders, dividers, pencil bags, flash drives, tissues, combination locks, as well as personal hygiene items such as deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, and travel-size laundry detergent.

Organizers say the annual Stuff the Bus campaign continues to bring together local businesses, educational institutions, and community organizations with a common goal of helping students and teachers start the school year prepared for success.
