LAS CRUCES – The Las Cruces Police Department has completed a national pledge aimed at strengthening trust and collaboration between police and the community.

The pledge is part of the Trust Building Campaign, an initiative started by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the world’s largest professional association for police leaders.

As part of the campaign, LCPD prioritized officer wellness, implemented trauma-informed response training, and expanded opportunities for public input through surveys, town hall meetings and community outreach events.

Police officials said the work has helped build stronger relationships between officers and residents while promoting safer and more effective policing practices.

Chief Jeremy Story said the campaign allowed the department to take a comprehensive look at how it serves the community and identify opportunities to grow. He said the department’s focus on transparency, accountability and meaningful engagement has strengthened public trust and reinforced LCPD’s commitment to professional and respectful service.

Through enhanced training, improved accountability systems and expanded community partnerships, LCPD said it has continued to build a culture rooted in integrity, service and collaboration.

The Las Cruces Police Department received its Certificate of Completion from the International Association of Chiefs of Police on May 4.
