LAS CRUCES – Doña Ana County is seeking volunteers interested in helping shape the future of public art throughout the county, with applications now being accepted for an opening on the Public Art Advisory Board.
The application deadline is Friday, November 13, 2026. The appointment will run from December 1, 2026, through October 30, 2028.
The Public Art Advisory Board plays an important role in supporting and promoting public art throughout Doña Ana County. Board members provide recommendations on the development, selection, placement and maintenance of public art installations while helping guide cultural initiatives that reflect the county’s history, diversity and creativity.
The seven-member advisory board currently has one vacancy following a resignation.
County officials are encouraging residents with an interest in the arts and community involvement to apply. Applicants must reside in Doña Ana County and should have knowledge of various artistic disciplines, along with a commitment to community engagement.
The county also seeks a board membership that reflects the diverse cultural backgrounds, experiences and perspectives of the communities it serves.
Selected members serve staggered two-year terms, allowing experienced members to work alongside newly appointed volunteers.
Board positions are unpaid, and members must be available to attend quarterly meetings beginning in January, as well as participate in activities related to public art throughout the county.
Residents interested in applying may complete an online application through the county’s website at:
https://www.donaana.gov/about_us/apply_for_committees_boards/committee_application_form.php
Applications may also be downloaded by visiting www.donaana.gov, selecting the “About Us” section, and navigating to “Boards and Commissions,” where the Public Art Advisory Board is listed.
Completed applications must be submitted by Friday, November 13.
For additional information, residents may contact Doña Ana County Economic Development Coordinator Luce Rubio at 575-386-4347 or by email at lucer@donaana.gov.
County officials say participation on the advisory board provides residents with an opportunity to contribute to public spaces, support local artistic expression and help guide the cultural development of Doña Ana County.
