The public is invited to attend an event to highlight and showcase a new program at Doña Ana Community College (DACC) aimed at helping formerly incarcerated individuals with their futures.

The event, A Community Showcase of the DACC Reentry Program, will be held on Saturday, July 18th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the East Mesa Campus, 2800 Sonoma Ranch Blvd., inside the Student Resources Building (DASR). The event includes dinner, entertainment, a photo booth, and a car show. Attire is business casual.

Sponsorships ranging from $250 to $1,500 are available online at https://alwaysanaggie.org/donate/re-entry-student-program/. Individual tickets can be reserved by calling (575) 527-7776 and donations of $10 to $25 are appreciated.

“The event is to raise awareness of the program and gather support,” says Kay Lilley, DACC Workforce Training Program specialist. “But also, to uplift the collective voice of this population, whose potential to contribute to our communities is often dismissed and overlooked.”

The Reentry Program assists formerly incarcerated individuals with reclaiming their identities, reframing their narratives, and planning their futures. Individuals receive peer-to-peer support, assistance with resources, job training, and personal/career discovery.
