LAS CRUCES – Motorists traveling in and around Las Cruces should expect lane closures, reduced speeds and possible delays during construction projects scheduled for the week of Aug. 9 through 16.

On Interstate 25 between mile markers 6 and 14.2, from Las Cruces to north of Doña Ana, guardrail and concrete barrier wall work will continue. Lane closures and traffic control will remain in place around the clock in both directions. Crews are installing concrete barrier wall, and reduced speed limits are in effect. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Farther north on I-25, roadway rehabilitation continues from mile marker 70 to 85 near Cuchillo. Lane closures may affect both directions for guardrail, milling and paving work. The southbound driving lane is currently closed from milepost 75 to 72. Work is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with possible weekend work.

Near San Antonio, crews are finalizing work on I-25 from mile marker 125 to 139. Lane closures in both directions may be used for rumble-strip installation and pavement markings. Reduced speed limits remain in place.

In Las Cruces, turning lanes may be closed at University Avenue and Valley Drive while crosswalk push buttons are relocated. The project is expected to be completed by Aug. 14. Work hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

On NM 28 in the Mesilla area, the northbound driving and turning lane to NM 101, University Avenue, remains closed for road repairs. Motorists should follow posted detours. No reopening time has been announced.

At Lohman Avenue and Walnut Street, outside lanes approaching the intersection are temporarily closed for roadway and signal improvements. The closures are expected to remain in place through approximately Aug. 16.

Drivers are asked to slow down, obey posted signs and use caution around workers, equipment and changing traffic patterns. Double fines for speeding in work zones may be in effect. Conditions may change without notice.
