LAS CRUCES – During its regular meeting Monday, July 6, the Las Cruces City Council unanimously approved several resolutions, including liquor license transfers, funding for a youth leadership program, and the reallocation of federal infrastructure funding.

Council members approved the transfer of ownership of two inter-local liquor licenses with on-premises consumption for Cattle Baron Restaurants, Inc. One transfer was for Cattle Baron Steak and Seafood Restaurant, 790 S. Telshor Blvd., and the other for Farley’s Food, Fun and Pub, 3499 Foothills Road. The transfers were required because of a change in business ownership and had previously received preliminary approval from the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Division.

The council also authorized the City to accept a $5,000 grant from New Mexico State University for the Las Cruces Police Department’s Summer Youth Leadership Academy. The program is designed to help young people develop leadership skills while strengthening partnerships among LCPD, NMSU and Las Cruces Public Schools.

In another action, councilors approved reallocating nearly $1.3 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding from the delayed Casa Linda Acres Reconstruction Project to the Cortez Drive Improvement Project. City officials said the move will ensure the federal funds are spent before the Dec. 31, 2026 deadline while allowing other funding sources to continue work on the Casa Linda Acres project.

All resolutions passed on a 6-0 vote. Councilor Bill Mattiace was absent from the meeting.
