LAS CRUCES – The City of Las Cruces has named Jimmy Moreno as the new assistant director of Public Works.
Moreno brings more than 20 years of engineering experience to the position, including 14 years with the City of Las Cruces. Since joining the city in 2012, he has served in several Public Works roles, including project manager, project manager supervisor and construction management administrator.
City officials said Moreno’s leadership, technical expertise and commitment to excellence have contributed to the success of numerous Public Works projects.
In his new role, Moreno will help advance the department’s mission and support the development and delivery of major initiatives throughout Las Cruces.
Moreno is a graduate of New Mexico State University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in geological engineering and a master’s degree in civil engineering, with a minor in experimental statistics.
He began serving as assistant director on May 11, 2026.
