LAS CRUCES – The New Mexico Department of Transportation is reminding motorists to use caution in construction zones as multiple road improvement projects continue across southern New Mexico.

On Interstate 25, J-H Supply Company is replacing guardrails and concrete barrier walls between mile markers 6 and 14.2 from Las Cruces to just north of Doña Ana. Lane closures and reduced speed limits are in effect in both directions around the clock, with crews working weekdays from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Farther north, Mountain States Constructors continues roadway rehabilitation on I-25 between mile markers 70 and 85 near Cuchillo. Drivers can expect lane closures in both directions, reduced speed limits, and possible weekend work as guardrail replacement continues.

In Truth or Consequences, the I-25 Business Loop rehabilitation project is nearing completion. Pavement marking adjustments have been finished, though occasional lane closures may still occur as final work is completed.

On U.S. 70 in Las Cruces, Renegade Construction is installing utilities and reconstructing the roadway between mile markers 152 and 153 on the eastbound lanes of Bataan Memorial Highway. Work is expected to continue through July 17.

The roadway widening project on NM 213 and NM 404 in Chaparral remains temporarily suspended because of unforeseen construction issues. NMDOT expects work to resume in mid-to-late July.

Within the City of Las Cruces, outside lanes approaching the intersection of Lohman Avenue and Walnut Street remain closed while roadway and traffic signal improvements are completed. The project is expected to continue through approximately July 10.

NMDOT reminds motorists to reduce speed, obey all posted signs, watch for heavy equipment and construction crews, and use extra caution while traveling through work zones. Double fines for speeding may be in effect in active construction areas.
