LAS CRUCES – Motorists traveling through Doña Ana County should expect delays as several highway improvement projects continue through the week of July 19 through July 26.

On Interstate 25, crews are continuing a guardrail and concrete barrier replacement project between Las Cruces and Doña Ana from mile markers 6 to 14.2. Lane closures and traffic control will remain in place around the clock in both directions, with reduced speed limits throughout the construction zone. Contractors are scheduled to work Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In Chaparral, the roadway widening project on NM 213 and NM 404 remains suspended due to unforeseen construction issues. Work is expected to resume in mid- to late August.

Within the City of Las Cruces, motorists should also be aware of lane closures at the intersection of Lohman Avenue and Walnut Street. The outside lanes approaching the intersection are temporarily closed while roadway and traffic signal improvements are completed. The closures are expected to remain in place until approximately July 24.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation reminds drivers to slow down, obey posted signs, and use extra caution in all work zones. Double fines for speeding in construction zones may be in effect.
