ALBUQUERQUE – A teenager has pleaded guilty in connection with the June 2025 shooting death of a woman during an attempted robbery in southeast Albuquerque.
According to court records, Jeffrey Moore pleaded guilty to charges of second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Authorities said Moore was part of a group of teenagers accused of attempting to rob homeless individuals near Central Avenue and Zuni Road in an effort to obtain gas money.
Investigators said that during the attempted robbery, someone opened fire on the teens, who then returned gunfire. During the exchange, 35-year-old Marlene Gutierrez was struck and killed.
Moore was 16 years old at the time of the incident.
The Albuquerque Police Department previously announced charges against four other teenagers connected to the case, including Ean Spencer, Victoria Belmudez, Terrance Morris, and Jazelle Dudley. Prosecutors said the suspects face charges including voluntary manslaughter, armed robbery, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Court records indicate Dudley had been scheduled for trial last month, but the proceeding was canceled. Trials for Belmudez, Spencer, and Morris are currently scheduled for Aug. 17.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
