ALBUQUERQUE – An Albuquerque man has been sentenced to 54 years in prison after being convicted of repeatedly sexually abusing a young girl over several years.
A judge sentenced Skye Balboa on Thursday following his February conviction on seven counts of criminal sexual penetration of a child under the age of 13 and one count of intimidation of a witness.
According to prosecutors, Balboa sexually abused the victim for years, beginning when she was 5 years old. Although he did not live with the child, prosecutors said he knew the victim’s family.
Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman said Balboa had originally faced a maximum possible sentence of up to 129 years in prison before the judge imposed the 54-year sentence.
