LAS CRUCES – The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office will conduct sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols throughout July as part of an ongoing effort to reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities caused by impaired drivers.
The DWI enforcement campaign will continue through the end of the month, with checkpoints taking place at undisclosed locations throughout Doña Ana County. Enforcement activities are scheduled between noon and 2 a.m.
In addition to conducting sobriety checkpoints, deputies assigned to saturation patrols will be actively monitoring roadways for impaired drivers and other traffic violations. Officials said enforcement efforts will focus on identifying drivers who may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs while also addressing other violations that affect public safety.
The sheriff’s office encourages motorists to plan ahead by using a designated driver, rideshare service or other safe transportation option if they plan to consume alcohol. Drivers are also reminded to obey traffic laws, wear seat belts and remain alert while traveling.
The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office said its goal is to help keep local roadways safe for everyone throughout the month of July.
