LAS CRUCES – Doña Ana Community College students entering their first year will have a new source of support through New Mexico State University’s President’s Mentoring Program.
The new initiative, started by NMSU President Valerio Ferme, pairs participating first-year students with faculty or staff mentors who will guide them throughout their first year of college.
The program is designed to help students develop a stronger connection to the college while providing academic support, career development opportunities and assistance connecting with services available through DACC.
“We want our students who step foot on our campuses to succeed,” said Dr. Jesse Haas, associate vice president of DACC Student Services. “We want new students to have a connection and sense of belonging here at DACC and this program is tailored to meet the needs of these students.”
The mentoring program is offered at no cost to students. DACC students interested in participating can complete a registration form through the college.
