ALBUQUERQUE — New Mexico State Police say agents seized suspected fentanyl pills, fentanyl powder and a loaded handgun after a wanted fugitive was taken into custody Aug. 10 at a hotel in southeast Albuquerque.
According to New Mexico State Police, agents with the New Mexico Corrections Department’s Probation and Parole Security Threat Intelligence Unit located Sean Viviani, who was wanted for absconding from supervision. Agents reported seeing him enter a vehicle and followed it to the Comfort Suites on Woodward Drive SE, where he was taken into custody.
During the investigation, agents said they saw a firearm and suspected fentanyl inside a backpack in the vehicle. The New Mexico State Police Auto Theft Unit was contacted, secured the vehicle and obtained a search warrant.
After executing the warrant, state police reported seizing about 15.6 grams of suspected fentanyl pills, about 25.6 grams of suspected fentanyl powder and one loaded 9 mm pistol.
The investigation remains ongoing. Viviani is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
