LAS CRUCES – Doña Ana County issued evacuation notices for Salem and Garfield Tuesday, September 29, due to forecasts of worsening weather conditions.
Residents in the affected areas are strongly encouraged to evacuate now and move to a safe location before conditions deteriorate. County officials urge residents not to wait until the weather worsens to leave.
Those needing shelter may go to the Radium Springs Community Resource Center, 12060 Lindbeck Road. The American Red Cross will be at the center to assist residents.
Residents evacuating should take essential medications, identification, important documents and necessary supplies, including items for children and pets.
Motorists should avoid flooded roads, obey closure signs and never drive through standing or flowing water. Turn around and seek another route if a roadway is flooded.
The county will share additional information about evacuation areas, road conditions and available resources through its official social media channels and website as updates become available.
