LAS CRUCES – Doña Ana Fire Rescue has promoted two veteran members of the department to deputy chief positions as part of an effort to strengthen leadership and support emergency services throughout Doña Ana County.

Travis Simpson has been promoted to Deputy Fire Chief of Administration, while Chris Padilla has been promoted to Deputy Fire Chief of Operations.

According to the department, Simpson has served in a variety of leadership and operational roles during his career with Doña Ana Fire Rescue and will oversee administrative functions and strategic initiatives in his new position.

Padilla, who has more than 17 years of fire service experience, most recently served as Interim Deputy Chief of Operations. In his new role, he will oversee operational readiness, emergency response functions and frontline service delivery across the department.

Interim Fire Chief Sean Heck said both men have demonstrated strong leadership and dedication throughout their careers.

“These promotions reflect the dedication, professionalism and leadership that both Travis and Chris have demonstrated throughout their careers,” Heck said. “Their experience, commitment to our personnel and passion for serving the community make them outstanding additions to our executive leadership team.”

Doña Ana Fire Rescue provides fire protection, emergency medical response and related emergency services throughout Doña Ana County.
