DEMING – The City of Las Cruces is inviting residents and visitors to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary with two days of free Fourth of July festivities featuring family activities, live entertainment, a parade and fireworks.
The celebration begins Friday, July 3, with the annual Electric 5K and One-Mile Fun Run at Meerscheidt Recreation Center, followed by the Electric Light Parade. This year’s parade theme is “Stars, Stripes & City Lights” and honors America’s 250th Anniversary. The parade begins at 9 p.m. at Apodaca Park, travels along Solano Drive and Hadley Avenue, and ends at the Maag Softball Complex.
Festivities continue Saturday, July 4, with the annual Fourth of July Concert and Fireworks Celebration at Pat and Lou Sisbarro Community Park on the New Mexico State University campus.
Gates open at 4 p.m., with a Kids Zone operating from 4 until 8 p.m. Country rock band Triple Jack will perform at 6 p.m., followed by headliner 49 Winchester at 8 p.m. The annual fireworks display is scheduled to begin at approximately 9:45 p.m.
Organizers remind attendees that a clear bag policy will be in effect. Food vendors will be available on-site, but personal fireworks, grilling, outside alcohol, glass containers, RV parking and overnight parking are prohibited. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, sunscreen, hats and umbrellas.
The Fourth of July celebration is free and open to the public.
