LAS CRUCES – Las Cruces firefighters quickly contained a fire that damaged a commercial property on Montana Avenue Saturday afternoon, while one firefighter was injured during the response.
Just after 1 p.m. on July 11, firefighters responded to a report of a commercial structure fire in the 1200 block of Montana Avenue. The first arriving crews found a large exterior fire burning in a storage yard that was spreading toward a nearby commercial building.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control within approximately 15 minutes and searched the building to ensure no occupants were inside. No civilians were found in the structure.
One firefighter was injured while battling the fire and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of the firefighter’s injuries has not been released.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
