LAS CRUCES – A residential structure fire damaged a home on Richard Drive Thursday afternoon, leaving the occupants displaced but causing no reported injuries.

Las Cruces firefighters responded just before 1 p.m. Thursday, May 14, to the 200 block of Richard Drive after a residential structure fire was reported. First-arriving crews found fire and smoke coming from a single-wide mobile home.

Firefighters began an aggressive fire attack and were able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes. Crews searched the residence and found no victims inside.

No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported.

Fire crews remained on scene for an extended period, overhauling the structure and conducting a thorough secondary search to make sure the fire was fully extinguished and the home was clear.

The occupants of the residence were displaced because of the fire.

The cause remains under investigation.
