LAS CRUCES – Las Cruces firefighters responded to an abandoned building fire early Thursday morning on the city’s north side.
Just before 2 a.m. on April 30, fire crews were dispatched to the 600 block of North San Pedro Street after reports of a structure fire. The first firefighters to arrive reported heavy smoke coming from a rear window of the building.
Crews conducted a search of the structure and confirmed that the building was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control in approximately 20 minutes.
Officials reported no injuries related to the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
