LAS CRUCES – Las Cruces firefighters quickly contained a residential fire Tuesday night, preventing the flames from spreading beyond the kitchen and safely removing two cats from the home.
Just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, firefighters responded to a reported structure fire in the 2100 block of Chilton Drive.
The first fire crew to arrive found an active fire in the kitchen of the residence. Firefighters immediately began an aggressive attack and were able to contain the blaze to the kitchen.
The fire was brought under control within nine minutes of the arrival of the first firefighting unit.
During the response, firefighters safely removed two cats from the residence.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
