LAS CRUCES – The Mad Hatter Gallery will host a public reception and author talk celebrating the publication of ARC, the debut novel by longtime Las Cruces community leader Gregory Z. Smith, who writes as G.Z. Smith.
The event will be held Friday, Oct. 9, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Mad Hatter Gallery, 221 N. Main Street in Las Cruces.
Smith will discuss his novel during a conversation with Algernon D’Ammassa of the Albuquerque Journal. An audience question-and-answer session and book signing will follow the discussion.
Smith is a former Las Cruces city councilor, educator, arts advocate and former director of the Doña Ana Arts Council.
His first novel imagines a future America transformed into the URA. The story invites readers to consider the decisions society makes today and the legacy those choices may leave for future generations.
Copies of ARC will be available for Smith to sign following the program.
