LAS CRUCES – Doña Ana Community College is reporting continued growth as new national rankings show higher education in New Mexico making significant gains in affordability.
The latest U.S. News & World Report rankings place New Mexico second in the nation for the lowest student debt at graduation and eighth for low tuition and fees. New Mexico ranked 40th nationally in 2022.
DACC officials say the college’s low tuition and access to financial assistance, including the New Mexico Lottery and Opportunity scholarships, continue to make higher education more accessible.
“Our low tuition is a big help for many students, especially those who may not qualify for the Lottery and Opportunity scholarships,” DACC Vice President for Student Services Ike Ledesma said.
The college also offers a 135-mile tuition discount for qualifying students who live outside New Mexico.
DACC offers more than 45 degree programs and 75 certificate programs. Many of its associate degrees are designed to transfer into bachelor’s degree programs at New Mexico State University. All DACC degrees and certificates may also be applied toward NMSU’s Bachelor of Applied Studies program.
Additional programs include English as a Second Language, high school equivalency preparation and testing, integrated education and training, workforce development and support for small businesses.
