LAS CRUCES — A Rio Rancho man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in a case involving the distribution and possession of child sexual exploitation material.
Daniel Stumbo was sentenced Thursday in Bernalillo County District Court. Prosecutors said the case began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a report that illegal videos were being shared through the Telegram messaging application.
Investigators traced the online activity to Stumbo, according to the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office.
Stumbo pleaded guilty in May to two counts of distribution of a visual medium of sexual exploitation of children and one count of possession of a visual medium of sexual exploitation of children.
The 10-year sentence was announced by the District Attorney’s Office following Thursday’s court hearing.
