LAS CRUCES – The City of Las Cruces has selected Brad Weems as the new director of Las Cruces International Airport.

Weems brings more than 20 years of airport management and operations experience to the position. Most recently, he served as airport operations duty manager at Washington Dulles International Airport, where he managed major infrastructure projects including terminal construction and runway rehabilitation work.

City officials said Weems also has experience with Federal Aviation Administration regulatory compliance, airport safety and security, daily operations and community stakeholder relations.

He is a Certified Member of the American Association of Airport Executives, a private pilot and a licensed aircraft dispatcher. Weems holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Houston.

Weems is scheduled to begin his service with Las Cruces International Airport on Monday, Aug. 24.
