HATCH, N.M. — The Hatch Chile Festival continues Sunday with another full day celebrating the world-famous crop and the agricultural heritage of the Hatch Valley.
Sunday’s entertainment begins on the main stage at 11 a.m. with Ballet Folklórico, followed by mariachi music from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Ballet Folklórico returns from 12:30 to 1 p.m., followed by Mood Swing from 1:15 to 3:15 p.m. The Suthern Blend Band will perform from 3:30 until 6:30 p.m.
Activities on the second stage include music and a friendship-bracelet craft beginning at 11:30 a.m. Free watermelon, chile and ice-cream eating contests begin at 1 p.m. Book readings are scheduled from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m., followed by a hat-decorating activity from 3 to 5 p.m. Additional music is scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m.
Visitors can also enjoy fresh chile roasting, food and merchandise vendors, a festival rock hunt and the Hatch Carnival. The carnival is located behind Village Market at 101 School Street.
Admission to the Hatch Chile Festival is free. Carnival rides and some parking may require additional fees.
