LAS CRUCES — The Las Cruces Police Department will host a town hall meeting July 29 featuring Mayor Eric Enriquez, all six City Councilors, Chief Jeremy Story and other department leaders.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, in three conference rooms on the second floor of City Hall’s north wing, 700 N. Main St. It is expected to last about two hours.
Residents and business community members will be encouraged to join the table for their City Council district and take part in small-group discussions about public safety. Chief Story, deputy chiefs and other police department staff will be available to answer questions and hear ideas from participants.
Story is scheduled to open the meeting with department news and a brief overview of year-to-date crime statistics. Attendees will then be invited to select one of seven breakout sessions, including district tables and a citywide table, for an open discussion.
“These town hall meetings are important for our city and for us as a department,” Story said. “We grow and become better as a community when we come together, share concerns and ideas, and learn from each other.”
Parking will be available on the west side of City Hall and in the parking garage on the east side, accessible from Campo Street. The meeting will not be televised or livestreamed, and attendees are encouraged to arrive early.
